Where Could You Start?
Finance and Accounting is one of the most distributed organizations within P&G. Careers could start in any one of the four key company organizations including GBU (Regional Business Units), MDO (Country Organizations), GBS (Shared Service Organization), or Corporate (HQ staff). Early assignments will focus on learning the business or industry and mastering specific work processes. If assigned to a Global Business Unit, you could be expected to analyze business and competitive information and make recommendations about how to bring a new product to market in a financially viable way. You could also work on a broad range of other financial issues including strategy, profit/cost forecasting, and launching new initiatives/products into market. If assigned to a Market Development Organization, you could be expected to support local market activities such as customer financial analysis, competitive analysis, local budget management, and local strategy/planning. You will influence both business decisions with internal customers (i.e. Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, etc.) and external customers and suppliers (local Customers, Governments, etc.). Our GBS area is responsible for the various accounting transactions/processes. P&G is a leader in “shared service” consolidation and hence here you’ll learn how a truly global organization provides service across multiple countries and multiple internal customers in a cost effective/scaleable way. A few people may also start in the Corporate Function where in, you could be made responsible for corporate activities such as Tax, Treasury, Mergers and Acquisitions, etc. These activities are also a partial responsibility of all other areas, but within the Corporate area individuals have the chance to greater specialize on these areas via full-time responsibility.

What Could Your Career Path Look Like?
Regardless of where you start, you will have the opportunity to broaden and deepen your financial and business skills and experiences through a variety of assignments. Over-time a career in Finance and Accounting will allow an individual to have one of the broadest views of P&G possible… going across the broad spectrum of Finance/Accounting (e.g. Treasury, Analysis, Costing, Accounting, etc.) as well as across the broader enterprise working with all other functions in the corporation and being actively involved in core business leadership areas such as planning, strategy, etc. Progression will be based on performance and potential as well as demonstrating the necessary skills. As individuals progress, they will be expected to have broad Finance & Accounting cross-organization experiences, potentially even global or outside of one’s home country. There will also be some opportunities for advancement as a technical specialist (in technical areas of accounting, or tax for instance).
