Nick Kambounias - Australia - Customer Team Systems Manager

Nick Kambounias

"The learning curve never stops at P&G, no matter how many years you’ve been here. It’s gradient is always changing. One thing is certain, keep moving forward and you’ll keep moving higher where the view only gets better and better."

Job Title: Customer Team Systems Manager
Function: IT/Information & Decision Solutions
University: Sydney University
Degree: Bachelor Of Engineering

I joined P&G in February 1997 and at the time I didn’t know what P&G did, as the company is not relatively large in Australia. However, I did know the brands and I was very proud to work for a company that produced many well-known and high quality products. I was initially given the task of managing EDI (specifically customer electronic ordering). With about 70% of the Australasian business coming via customers EDI orders it was a great deal of responsibility. I am still involved with EDI and am now one of the experts in the region. Over the years I have been at P&G I have worked on a variety of projects, across most functions and across different countries: from implementing a new payroll system (working with Finance and Human Resources) to managing a Vendor Managed Inventory project (working with Sales and Product Supply) or from installing a new local EDI system (where I worked alone) to being a key player on project team for developing a Global EDI system for use by all P&G markets around the globe (working with team members from the US, Germany, Singapore, Puerto Rico, and Philippines). The opportunities P&G has given me have been priceless on both a professional and personal standpoint. P&G boasts a distinct culture, which is guided by its Purpose, Values and Principles. This culture is evident no matter if you are working with other locally based colleagues or with people base in other markets.

What I like most about P&G:

- The people. - Working different challenging projects across functions or across markets with people of diverse backgrounds. - Working for a company that is respected worldwide and is guided by values and principles, which are in line with mine.

What I think could be better at P&G:
- The bureaucracy, which is typical in large organisations. - Sometimes the company can be too ‘process driven’.
