"I feel really blessed to be a part of P&G. If I had worked for any other company I would have not developed myself as a person, as I am today in P&G. The responsibilities given to me at the early part of my career showed me the level of trust that P&G had in me and this served as my challenge to make sure that I did my best in anything and everything I involved myself in."

Ateneo de Manila University, March 1997 |
I joined P&G on June 1, 2000 after working for three years as a faculty member of the Ateneo de Manila. I was a Mathematics teacher for the Ateneo de Manila High School from 1997-1999 and an Accounting and Economics teacher for the Ateneo de Manila University from 1999-2000. I joined the Global Business Services – Manila Service Center (GBS-MSC), initially based in Petron Megaplaza, now based at the General Office in 6750, Makati, Manila. I was assigned as Organization Capability (OC) Manager, handling Recruitment and Training for the Manila Service Center. My responsibility is to ensure that the MSC recruitment targets are filled on time and with the right people. I also created an MSC Onboarding Program for all new hires and a training system, which promotes just-in-time training for the people in MSC. Currently, my work still includes Recruitment and Training. I’m in the process of establishing the New Alliances House Account Team as a potential source of applicants for MSC. The training system for MSC is in the testing phase for implementation in July 2002. Aside from this, I am also managing the MSC Recognition Awards, which has been reapplied to the other GBS service centers. I work with the rest of the OC team to organize and conceptualize the quarterly MSC-wide events. I also co-own the Ateneo School Account and work closely with the university officials and organization leaders to maintain the campus equity of P&G on campus and to promote P&G as a potential employer to graduates of the Ateneo. P&G has given me the chance to work with a diverse group of people. I was able to smoothly transition from the academe to P&G with the help of the people I met during my first weeks in the company. I appreciate that P&G still expressed interest in me three years after my graduation from college and that the responsibilities given to me when I joined had a direct impact to the success of the business. With P&G, I’ve been able to tap into and establish new recruitment pools to ensure the steady flow of P&G-fit applicants for the organization. I continue to successfully work with the different functions of MSC to create a seamless recruitment process from sourcing applicants to the screening phase to the eventual on-boarding to P&G. In training, I have been able to provide MSC with the necessary training employees needed to help them excel in their roles as well as to build their capability in what have been identified as the GBS Core Competencies. We have been able to and continue to develop in-house trainers for these courses to ensure that all training needs are addressed. I’ve piloted F1: P&G onboarding, which provides new hires with a comprehensive introduction to P&G. We’re currently working on the reapplication of the Customer Service Awards for Asia, as it has been successful in Manila, Singapore, Newcastle and San Jose. In my School Account role, Ateneo had a record-breaking season, which continues to challenge us to do better for the school year ahead. Last July, our House Account Team won the People Systems Award in Manila.
What I like most about P&G:
I think the strength of P&G lies in its people. The people play a big part in the success of the company and in return, P&G makes sure that the people have responsibility as well in the direction of their life with the company. I take pride in informing all my new hires that in a short amount time with P&G, that they will realize just how much the company values them in terms of the responsibilities they will own as well as the direct impact of their work to the business.
What I think could be better at P&G:
The kind of people P&G hires would be the kind of people who might tend to focus too much on work at the expense of personal life. Of course, this results to overstaying in the office regularly. Since a majority of our employees are unmarried, I just hope that when they do tie the knot, that they will be able to better balance work and personal/family life.
