In the region, P&G started its operation in 1990 in the Czech & Slovak Republics. A year later, on September 1991, P&G purchased the Rakona manufacturing plant. The “Rakona” name is connected to a rich tradition dating back to 1875, when František Otta established his soap making business. Procter & Gamble immediately initiated an extensive investment program, which resulted in the perfection of the plant facilities and of the production technologies. Among the several products manufactured at the site we find the brands Ariel, Tide, Vizir, Bonux, Jar, Mr. Proper, Old Spice and Secret.

Also in 1991, P&G opened an office in Budapest, Hungary. At the same time, it set up a joint venture with a local company to produce Pampers diapers. In 1992, the plant started to produce Always feminine pads. Later on, P&G invested 100 million dollars to build a new paper plant at the same location. In 2003 a serious expansion project started by moving Tampax production to the site from Havant, UK.

In 1996, P&G opened offices in Croatia and Slovenia. These businesses were run from Budapest.

As of November 1999, Czech and Slovak P&G organization became a part of newly established regional branch “P&G Central Europe South”.

The P&G CES headquarters is situated in Budapest, Hungary. The Central Europe South organization includes the following sites:

·          Bratislava (SR),

·          Zagreb (Croatia),

·          Ljubljana (Slovenia),

·          Rakona plant (CR, detergents),
