Andrei Lyan - KAZAKHSTAN - IT Manager

Andrei Lyan

Job Title: IT Manager
Function: IT/Information & Decision Solutions
Department: Information Technology
University: Moscow State University

My first meeting with P&G was in October 1996 when my friend persuaded me to send my resume for application. In few days I was invited for the test. First impression was great - it was not only the test, but a lecture about the company made by a very energetic nice lady. When I passed the test I had interviews with several very nice people. These interviews were totally different from everything I had had before! They were simple conversations without any pressure, made in a very friendly and open way. They did not touch upon my professional level as much as my personality… At the time I started, P&G’s office employed 12 people and was located in a small apartment in the Business Center on Rozybalieva-Abaya. When I got my first assignment I was running around Europe collecting knowledge and learning and then I was running around Kazakhstan implementing systems solutions to improve our sales! When you start in P&G you receive real responsibilities from the very first day, which makes you feel proud, at the same time, you will never stay alone with your troubles, as on-going coaching is what P&G offers... What is next? I think with the current speed of IT development the answer is obvious - We are moving to the world where everything which can be clearly described will be done by machines, even sometimes a way how we think and make decisions. Using the power of machines we can (and probably will) automate almost everything, give reasonable advices of driving business (or drive it, where applicable). We will continue to transfer baskets of data into reasonable knowledge and we will ensure that it is timely and accurately delivered and understood.
