Nilufar Sharipova - KAZAKHSTAN - Assistant Brand Manager

Nilufar Sharipova

Job Title: Assistant Brand Manager
Function: Marketing
Department: Brand Management
University: Tashkent Technical University

Before I joined P&G I had already gained some work experience in social organizations. Thus, joining P&G I have not experienced any shiver as majority of new comers do. However, business - oriented companies and P&G particularly is completely different world. I joined Marketing department and I was full of mixed feelings when my manager handed me 3 brands with the common budget of around $500.000 (!!!) telling me : " Nilufar, you will be responsible for 3 quite young and very challenging brands. They require a lot of work to be done, but I am sure you will bring fresh breath for their further development!" Well, it sounded great and very inspiring. Everything seemed to be so shiny and bright, however I was a little bit confused. Packs of Comet, Ace and Fairy were standing on my table and half a million in the budget... What to start with? Consumer... Here the marathon starts. You run to focus groups, you visit your consumer at home. You look at their eyes, you listen to their words with your full attention trying to get the deep insights. You always bear a big question in your mind: " Dear consumer, what shall I do different to get you chose our product over the competitive one". At the end you get an answer or at least a hook that can start a new or change the existing game… While doing this extremely exciting job you interact with many people from other functions, agencies, companies. Here, in P&G, you especially understand the team work advantage and benefits. Being quite individualistic by nature I really started to appreciate working in team here, when all team member strive for one common goal with a great sense of ownership. When you all share the failure (if any) or celebrate the success. I love my team very much. I love the passion for work that exits here. If you ask me what else I like working in P&G, then my answer will be the learning I get here, the self-development I can gain. I really have learnt how to take risk. Yes, this is a challenge, but when you overcome it you feel yourself even stronger and more capable, like you are the one who can change the grounds.
