Ahsan Ahmed - PAKISTAN - Unit Manager, Customer Marketing Organization

Ahsan Ahmed

Job Title: Unit Manager, Customer Marketing Organization
Function: Sales/Customer Business Development
Department: Customer Business Development
University: Institute of Business Administration
Degree: MBA

After graduating from IBA I joined Philips Pakistan. Having spent two years at Philips, I was still not sure if I was doing what I wanted to do. Basic elements of a dynamic job like challenging assignments; strategic direction setting, self-development opportunities etc. were amiss. I had heard a lot about P&G from IBA graduates and decided to apply. Now I know, all that I had heard at that point was just a glimpse of what P&G is really all about. I have learnt a lot at P&G. I have been given responsibility and the right authority to make decisions. I'm not afraid of taking calculated risks. Once in a while, I can make mistakes and learn from them to move on and be a better manager. I broaden my horizon when I attend regional meetings and share and learn from people around the world. I can make my own plans and implement them to see them bear fruit and build business. I'm at ease with all the technological developments taking place in the world because P&G is swift at adapting and training its people to effectively use every new breakthrough technology that will help in building the business. In short, P&G is truly the place for people who want to make a difference.

What I like most about P&G:

I think the best thing P&G offers is recognition for performance. If individual contributions are not appreciated and rewarded, people tend to lose the steam and withdraw themselves into their cocoons. They are happy to do just enough to meet expectations. Nothing affects business growth more than the people themselves. Motivated and charged up people is the biggest asset for an organization. P&G is quick to recognize individual differences and rates and rewards people accordingly. High performance individuals are ready to give more and the ordinary are motivated to develop themselves further.
