A Brief History of Argentina

P&G's presence in Argentina began in late 1990 when P&G acquired the Shulton business worldwide. At the same time, the Company was negotiating the purchase of the leading diaper company in the country, and completed this transaction in September, 1991. In early 1993, P&G formed a joint venture with a Chilean paper company called CMPC (Compa��a Manufacturera de Papeles y Cartones), the leading disposable diaper and catamenial in Chile. In late 1993 and early 1994, P&G acquired "Compa��a Quimica" from Bunge & Born, and "Alejandro Llaur� e Hijos." These two acquisitions gave P&G entry into the dishwashing, laundry detergent, and bar soap categories.
