How does it work?

Procter & Gamble takes your technical and personal development very seriously indeed. After all, your innovations are the lifeblood of our business. The sheer breadth and depth of our R&D capability helps us to attract many of the world’s most talented scientists and engineers. They work in a powerhouse of innovation that is dynamic, fast-moving and inspirational–an environment that has created products such as ACE, Ariel and Pampers. We’ll judge your performance against how successfully you develop ingenious ideas into best-selling products.

To illustrate our hunger for technical innovation:

  • More than 8,000 scientists and researchers are accelerating the pace of new product and technology invention and around 100 are in Latin America
  • We have a global innovation network of 18 technical centers in nine countries on four continents
  • P&G holds more than 27,000 patents and applies for 3,000 more each year - or roughly 10 a day! In fact, we are one of the most prolific patent generating companies in the world.

P&G has more than 200 proprietary technologies in the market today, organised into core world class competencies that have been applied to develop superior products.

Two examples are:

Surface and Phase Chemistry:
We have proprietary surfactants and emulsifiers that are the basis for superior cleaning products, fabric conditioners, two–in–one shampoo and conditioners, cosmetics and foods.

Absorbent Structures and Materials:
Our baby care, feminine hygiene and tissue/towel businesses are all based upon this world class capability. Breakthroughs in paper making have created materials that are softer, more absorbent and use significantly less wood fibre.

Our scientific support in areas such as 3D imaging, analytical robotics and bio sensors is equally advanced. We are able to cross-fertilise our technical mastery across the entire business to produce breakthrough solutions.

We recruit Latin America’s top science and engineering graduates and postgraduates mainly for our Caracas Technical center. For further information on qualifications, disciplines and opportunities, visit our corporate, www.pg.com, or contact the recruiting organization in your country of residence.
