Inroads Intern Program

Hispanics at P&G are supported by an active and visible Hispanic community in Cincinnati and within P&G.

New Hispanics joining P&G’s corporate headquarters can find several functional and cross-functional support groups to help individuals find their way around town and within the Company. Key in these support groups is providing a community of common thoughts of family, values and tradition.

P&G’s Hispanic Support Groups are a community. Their goal is helping you succeed at work and out of it. Our Hispanic groups often work together on recruiting, retention, and advancement. And when work is completed, it’s time for fun at the various social events that include picnics and holiday parties at members’ homes.

P&G’s Hispanic employees cover all functional areas at all levels of the Company, and often join together for common purpose activities. The relationships are spontaneous and close knit – individuals easily become friends as well as peers. There is neither hierarchy nor bureaucracy when two or more Hispanics get together for lunch, a recruitment conference, or a holiday party.

P&G’s involvement in national Hispanic organizations provides P&G Hispanics an opportunity to actively participate in important programs within the larger Hispanic community. P&G is an active sponsor of the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s, SER, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Consortium for Higher Education.

Whereas P&G has strong structural commitment to sponsoring these programs, corporate involvement is grass roots – P&G Hispanics represent the Company in these organizations and as such provide opportunities to network with other Hispanic professionals in activities that are important to the members.

There is a great deal of support for Hispanic individuals in Cincinnati from the larger Hispanic population within the Cincinnati community. A primary community meeting place for the Hispanic community is Cincinnati’s Su Casa Hispanic Center. The Hispanic Center provides any interested individual the opportunity to be immersed in the Hispanic culture, and many P&G’ers volunteer and participate in programs within the Center. Programs include ESL, translation, and assistance with employment, housing, transportation, health services, and immigration. The center just recently celebrated its fourth anniversary. Look for other key events that bring Hispanics together.

There are many types of mentoring systems in place here – everything from business coaching to cultural mentoring. Every new employee is provided a business coach. This would be someone in their area of expertise who can help them with their career.

More importantly, we have Hispanic networks in place that are dedicated to making your recruiting and on-boarding process as easy as possible. A member of one of our Hispanic Networks will contact you once you are offered a position with P&G. Many times, you will already know the Network Contact from your interview visit with P&G. Your Network Contact will play a much different "mentoring" role than your business coach. He/She can provide cultural information to help you make a good decision on your P&G offer or provide information needed once you accept our offer to help get you and your family acclimated to P&G. We find that in many cases this is the most important aspect of mentoring. How do I find a church with Mass in Spanish, which school or neighborhood will make my children feel included, where can I find a Hispanic doctor or lawyer, are some of the questions the Network Contact can help you with. Network Contacts are all Hispanic volunteers who manage important businesses at P&G, but they know how important these questions are and want to assure they are answered.

So, what type of support can you expect at P&G? Great support that will help with your special needs or those of your family. Our charter is to help Hispanics succeed at P&G.
